Fuji Tempura Idaten

About

  • 4.7 ( 17 reviews)

Idaten is a casual tempura restaurant near Kawaguchiko Station. One of the reasons Idaten has been supported is the chef in action. We have an ozasiki (Japanese style) table, 3 normal tables, and about 20 counter seats, and if you get a counter seat, you are able to see the cooking in action right in front of you. Not only seeing cooking but you can also enjoy the smell and the sound of tempura while you are waiting. Many customers (especially people from other countries) already know this information before they come to us, so they prefer to sit at the counter and have some fun seeing and learning how to cook good tempura. Not many tempura restaurants in Japan cook in front of customers, so you can enjoy a great experience with us.

Fantastic tempura restaurant. A lot of effort put into presentation, explaining to you what each piece is and arranging it in front of you. Seats at the bar viewing the chefs doing their thing & tables available. Big question at peak times, so get there early. Reasonable price, accept credit cards & 3 parking spaces available.

This had got to be the best tempura even tasted in my entire life! The batter that they use is blended with a tinge of sweetness which is never found in other tempura stores. They even made their own chilli flakes which is for sale which tasted awesome with the tempura. The main cook fries the tempura in front of the bar counter so one will definitely feel the smoked smell linger on your clothing after that. But its worth the linger! MUST try!!

Food was great. Like, really great. Even I like the soy sauce that they put at the rice. Then the tempura are really good! And staff were super friendly too!

We got seats at the counter for 2. The staff are very friendly. We ordered tempura menu for 2 and 1 serving of vegetable tempura. Miso soup is included and it is self-served, very flavourful with seaweed and eggs. Tempura dish are large and delicious. Their home made chili is also very recommended. Food and service were also very fast.

Delicious tempura with reasonable price. Try the package for two people. The size is big and if you can not eat much, this combo can be eaten for 3 people. The place is cozy and super clean. Staff is friendly. Will come again if i visit kawaguchiko. Worth to try

Very good tempura, including chicken tempura, fish tempura, vegetable tempura. The restaurant also have udon, rice, fried potatoes. Very friendly service - the staff accepted to open the restaurant for us when we arrived on closing time.Quick service and affordable prices. You can also buy souvenirs from the restaurant such as special dressings for salads, spice, etc.

Very good ambience, delicious food, not a bad price. & opens a bit later than the rest of the restaurants in the area. Plus it's close to the bus terminal/train station.

Hands down the best tempura I have eaten. I order the fujisan tempura set which cost 3000yen. It was light and crispy.

The bomb! Order the mega sharing portions! They really are huge! The food is great and it's therapeutic watching the chef battering the prawns and frying them. Though it's an open kitchen you don't smell the frying and that's quite amazing. They have 1 guy playing some music in the evenings. Overall a very chill and cool vibe here. The staff can speak English so no issues here. Beer is kinda expensive though but oh well I shd drink less anyway. Have fun!

Tasty vegan tempura prepared with very light batter - delicious and crispy. Served with rice (to be served on your own from a rice cooked by the entrance). I've been also offered a bottle of sauce marked "halal" (as they have halal options available as well) - but I'm not sure if that was vegan. The portion was quite generous too, perfect too fill you up before hiking around the area.Clearly marked vegan explanation and suggestion for ordering in case there's a language barrier.

Free parking space outside the restaurant but there are not many space available, perhaps only space for 3-4 cars. English menu is available, they are also vegan and Muslim friendly. Lots of information and they welcome customers to ask question if unsure. Good portion, great variety of tempura to choose from. You can get set menus or even a la carte. Spacious environment, good place to eat if you’re with a big group.

Came for the mega Fuji tendon gimmick. It's....a waste of 6000 yen. The shrimp was decent but their sheer size and number meant trying to finish them (and keep them down) was a challenge. The tempura wasn't light on the oil either, and the rice was drenched with sauce, making the entire dish way too heavy on the palate.

If you love tempura, and think you know what good tempura taste like, you are wrong if you haven’t been here. Tempura is lightly battered, endless miso soup and rice, and affordable sake. The staff is kind and clearly know what they are doing in the kitchen. One of my favorite meals I have had in Japan. The chef was kind enough to take a picture with us. A signature staple of what delicious tempura should taste like👌🏻

They have customer parking across the street. Plenty of seating on the inside. They have live music from local artists on most nights. Great vibes. Must try all their tempuras, I suggest ordering and sharing because they are fresh made and hard to come by. The signature Mt Fuji set is delicious and filling.

Questions & Answers

Sorry, I do not remember, but there was no pork in the dish I ordered.

That's Tenpura restaurant. It's mostly sea food and vegetables. Please ask that restaurant. Many foreigners there. But I think no indicated halal.

Is that ... right. Sorry, something ('· ω · `)

I think it's basically targeting tourists. Locals may not go.
